PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cellulose-dissolving solvent comprising an ion liquid and an organic nitrogen solvent or an ion liquid and DMSO and a method for preparing a cellulose solution. SOLUTION: The cellulose-dissolving solvent comprises an ion liquid and an organic nitrogen solvent, by which natural cellulose or regenerated cellulose is efficiently dissolved. With the use of the cellulose-dissolving solvent, cellulose can be dissolved at a high concentration and high speed independently of the crystal form of cellulose. Conventional pretreatment employed for dissolving cellulose is not required any more by the use of the cellulose-dissolving solvent.
