PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new photopolymerization initiator curing by a small amount of addition and also by a small photo-irradiation energy, inhibiting the discoloration after the curing of the polymerizable composition, and the oozing out and volatilization of the photopolymerization initiator, and excellent in preservation stability over time, and a polymerizable composition by using the photopolymerization initiator. SOLUTION: This photopolymerization initiator is expressed by general formula (1) or general formula (2) [wherein, R<SP>1</SP>to R<SP>8</SP>and R<SP>9</SP>to R<SP>15</SP>are each independently H or the like].
