METHOD OF PRODUCING CELLULOSE DECOMPOSITION PRODUCT UTILIZING IONIC LIQUID

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cellulose treatment method for efficiently decomposing by cellulase the cellulose solubilized with an ionic liquid.

SOLUTION: An ionic liquid in which the cellulose in a cellulose-containing material is solubilized is prepared, a predetermined amount of a poor solvent of the cellulose in the relation to the ionic liquid is added to the above ionic liquid containing the solubilized cellulose, and a cellulase acting environment is formed which contains the above ionic liquid and the above solvent and in which cellulase can offer enzyme activity. This makes it possible to impart, to the cellulose after the solubilization by the ionic liquid, an environment in which the cellulase can effectively act on the cellulose by a simple operation or in a less amount of use of the cellulase.
