<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system for a vehicle and a communication method for a vehicle capable of performing communication between units even if it is installed at any installation place in the vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: In order to perform communication between the units 20 for controlling each of objects to be controlled arranged at the respective places in the vehicle, when the units 20 are installed in the vehicle, an installation place determination means 202 for determining a module indicating the installation place receives a module ID 104a transmitted from a radio communication means 101 of a gate way 10 present at the module installed with the units as information for specifying the module. By the received module ID and device ID 205b indicating the kind of the units, the unit ID for uniquely discriminating the unit 20 is produced by a unit ID production part 203 and is stored as the unit ID 205a in a memory 205.
