PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer easily synthesized, having high solubility, high film-forming property and high oxidation stability, and useful as a polymer material for an active layer of an organic thin film transistor. SOLUTION: This polymer contains benzothieno [3,2-b] benzothiophene structure having a repetition unit expressed by general formula (I), where Ar represents divalent group selected from the group comprising a thiophene, bithiophene, terthiophene, quarter-thiophene, phenyl, biphenyl, terphenyl, and quarter-phenyl which may have a substituent.
