PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent damage of a lift cylinder so as to appropriately operate it without requiring excessive cost and maintenance even if a cleaning state in a tank is poor in a hydraulic device for a cargo handling applied to a cargo handling vehicle such as a forklift. SOLUTION: The hydraulic device for the cargo handling is composed of a tank 2, a pump 3 connected therewith, a switching valve 4 connected therewith, a lift cylinder 5 to which a tail chamber 11 is connected and elevates/lowers the cargo by a pressure oil from the pump 3, a return path 6 which is provided between the switching valve 4 and the tank 2, and always circulates the pressure oil from the pump 3 to the tank 2, and a communication path 7 which connects a rod chamber 12 of the lift cylinder 5 and the upstream side of the return path 6, and particularly, the hydraulic device is provided with the communication path 7 which connects the rod chamber 12 of the lift cylinder 5 and the upstream side of the return path 6.
