PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus for smoothly moving a slider member holding an image pickup device without shaking when moving the slider member in camera shake correcting operation. SOLUTION: The magnitude of magnetic attraction F generated between an electromagnetic coil 25 and a magnetic metal member 11 (or an amount of electric current flowed to the electromagnetic coil 25) is controlled depending on a direction of acceleration (acceleration caused by the gravity (a gravitational acceleration) and acceleration caused by shake (shake acceleration)) working on the imaging apparatus. This magnetic attraction F moves a second slider 10 (including a CCD 8 and a first slider) as a whole toward the electromagnetic coil 25. This movement brings two inclined surfaces (or fourth and fifth surfaces 10j and 10k) of a shaft hole 10d into contact with a second guide shaft 14 with no gap being interposed in between, and keeps this contact condition.
