The method involves moving a washing piece (13) by a rotary drivable mangle roller (11) at a flat surface (14) of a heated mangle hollow (10). The drying degree of the washing piece is determined after the mangling. The drying degree of the washing piece is determined continuously during the movement of the washing piece at the respective flat surfaces. An independent claim is included for a hollow mangle for pressing of washing piece.
