The system has two deported detection modules, each module (10i) includes an acquisition unit (101) acquiring an acoustic time signal (20i) and a transmitting unit (107) transmitting a detection signal (23i). A processing unit (103) of the module processes the time signal to calculate a multi-component descriptor (21i). The transmitting unit has a part of the descriptor associated to the time signal timestamp (22) corresponding to the detection towards the adjacent module or towards an analyzing device that analyzes the detection signal to confirm and to locate an event. An independent claim is also included for a method for detecting and locating an event.
