APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR ENCRYPTION SUITABLE FOR OUTSOURCING LARGE SIZE DATABASE

An apparatus and a method for encryption suitable for outsourcing a large data base are provided to encrypt the data like personal information on a database using a bucket ID converting method. An encryption unit(10) divides the conversion of the bucket ID to a specific number and performs the random substitution. The encrypted data is stored in a database(20). A decoding unit(30) reversely converts the stored encrypted data in the database. The decoding unit outputs the decoded text by reversely substituting the encrypted data stored in the database. The encryption unit includes a preprocessor(11) dividing the text into two specific number, a bucket ID converter(12) converting the bucket ID obtained from the divided number from the preprocessor to the result of the hash function, and the random substitution unit(13) random substituting the remaining value about the text of the preprocessor.
