Ribbons 101, Fig. 1, are cut into sheets by rotary cutters 102 and the sheets are fed to a cylinder 106 having three grippers 107 for the leading edges, three folding blades 108 cooperating with folding jaws 111 on a cylinder 110 to fold the sheets transversely, and three knives 109 acting with knives 112 on the cylinder 110 to trim the rear edges of the sheets, the bits trimmed off being held by pins 113 and stripped by ejectors 112 into a box, while the folded sheets are stripped by ejectors 116 into a stacker 115. In another form, Fig. 2, the rear edges are trimmed by knives on cylinders 203 having pins 213 and stripped into a suction bonnet 215, while the front edge is trimmed and the sheet folded by cylinders 211, 212. In another form, the cutting cylinders have double knives to trim the edges before reaching the folding cylinder. In another form, the folded sheets are trimmed by co-operation of the folding-jaw cylinder with a further cylinder. |
