A safeguard apparatus for pedestrian is provided to protect pedestrians in the place where traffic accident is frequent, while controlling drivers psychologically. A safeguard apparatus for pedestrian comprises a protection control unit(12) connected to a traffic light controller(10) of a traffic signal(10a), and a barrier(16) which is installed near a stop line beside a crosswalk and operates under control of the protection control unit. The barrier is composed of a base(14), a fixing bracket, a moving plate(24), and an actuator. The moving plate is hinged on the fixing bracket and activated by the actuator.
