The invention relates to an aluminium shot for thin, plate-shaped effect pigments with a narrow relative width of the thickness distribution. The shot according to the invention is characterised by a grain bond of d10 = between 0.15 and 3.0 mum and d50 = between 0.8 and 5.0 mum and d90 = between 2.0 and 8.0 mum. The invention also relates to a method for producing the aluminium shot according to the invention, and to the use of the aluminium shot according to the invention as a laser marking means or a laser weldability means for plastic materials. The invention further relates to the use of the aluminium fine shot for producing ultra-thin aluminium pigments by means of wet grinding. ® KIPO & WIPO 2009
