A METHOD FOR PREPARING THIOMETHYLPHENOLS

A method for preparing a thiomethylphenol derivative is provided to increase reaction speed in a mild condition such as reaction time and reaction temperature, and to ensure excellent yield and conversion ratio. A method for preparing a thiomethylphenol derivative comprises the steps of: (i) performing reaction of a phenol derivative represented by chemical formula 2, a mercaptane derivative represented by chemical formula R2SH, and paraformaldehyde in a solvent to prepare a thiomethylphenol derivative represented by chemical formula 1; and (ii) purifying the thiomethylphenol derivative to 1~50 equivalent of acid based on 1 equivalent base.
