The vehicle has a pedestrian protection device (1) with a sensor (3) e.g. ultrasonic sensor, to detect nature of an impact between the vehicle and an obstacle. The device has an airbag (10) moved from a storage state under a front body piece to a deployed state above the piece for being inserted between the obstacle and the piece. The device has an airbag support rotatably mounted with respect to the piece such that the support occupies one of predetermined angular positions (P1-P5) based on the nature of the impact. The piece is delimited by a bumper (50), bonnet (100) or a windscreen (70).
