Ceramic conveyor roll with metal end caps and its assembly

Conveyor rolls used in high temperature applications, and an end cap assembly for such rolls. The conveyor roll (1) comprises a) a ceramic spool (2), b) at each end (21 ,22) of the ceramic spool (2), an end cap (4) comprising a metal ferrule (41) and having a certain internal circumference adapted to fit over an end (21) of the ceramic spool; and c) interposed between each end of the ceramic spool and the end cap an open tolerance ring (3) of resilient metal having a plurality of circumferentially arranged corrugations. This conveyor roll can resist temporary overheat or blockage without damages.
