<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately determine a scene of a subject included in an image. <P>SOLUTION: An imaging section 160 creates an image by imaging a subject according to imaging parameters set at an imaging parameter setting section 380. A color information extraction section 170 extracts density values of R, G and B in the image. A scene candidate determination section 320 calculates the average density values of R, G and B, and determines a scene candidate of the subject by using the average values thus calculated. A scene determination threshold holding section 350 holds a scene determination threshold corresponding to each scene. A scene determination section 360 determines that the scene candidate is the subject scene when the scene candidate determination section 320 continuously determines the same scene candidates for the scene determination threshold period.
