PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-component developer and an image forming apparatus, free from charging failure or conveyance failure caused by an extreme reduction in the fluidity of a two-component developer even after long-term use. SOLUTION: The two-component developer includes toner and a carrier. The toner contains: color resin particles containing a release agent and having a volume average particle diameter of 4 to 9μm; hexagonal or cubic alumina fine particles having a number average particle diameter of 50 to 300 nm, adhering to the surfaces of the color resin particles by 0.1 to 1 part by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the color resin particles; and an external additive having a number average particle diameter of 20 to 150 nm. The carrier contains ferrite particles and resin layers coating the surfaces of the ferrite particles and has a volume average particle diameter of 25 to 60μm. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
