PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooking apparatus capable of setting whole oil in an oil pot at a substantially uniform temperature, stably cooking food materials, and having a superior ventilation efficiency. SOLUTION: This cooking apparatus includes the oil pot 2, and a heating unit 15 for heating oil in the oil pot 2 by electromagnetic induction. This cooking apparatus has temperature detection unit 20 for detecting the temperature of the oil in the oil pot 2, and control unit 19 controlling the oil heating temperature by the heating unit 15 based on the oil temperature detected by the temperature detection unit 20. The temperature detection unit 20 has a stirring bar 21 being swingable with an immersion part 24 immersed in the oil in the oil pot 2, and a temperature detector 26 attached to the immersion part 24 of the stirring bar 21.
