<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element for an optical pickup which prevents characteristics deterioration due to temperature without increasing mass, and stably provides excellent optical characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: The optical element for the optical pickup is provided with: an objective lens 1 which converges luminous flux; an aberration correcting means which corrects an aberration; and a holder which fixes the relative positions of the objective lens 1 and aberration correcting means. The aberration correcting means has a plurality of aberration correcting elements 2, 3 including an aberration correcting element 3 having negative power.
