PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording device that can perform preliminary ejection of ink by a simple mechanism and is compact by virtue of the elimination of the need for special space for preliminary ejection, and to provide an ink jet recording method and a sheet used for them. SOLUTION: The sheet 18 that can be moved is provided between a recording head 2 and a recording medium 5. Ink is preliminarily ejected onto the ink ejection enabled face of the sheet.
