PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a stroboscopic image at a high speed. SOLUTION: A one-dimensional data generating section 213 converts images, continuously photographed and stored in an image memory 230 by continuous photographing operation of an imaging section 100 to one-dimensional data whose data amount is small, by projecting them in one direction according to a moving direction of a photographed object. If a photographed object detecting section 214 detects a part which shows the photographed object in respective photographed images, based on the generated one-dimensional data, an image selection section 215 selects images in which the detected photographed object parts do not overlap as effective frames. If the effective frames are selected, based on the one-dimensional data, a background image generation section 216 generates the background image using pixel values of the effective frames; and at the same time, the photographed object detecting section 214 extracts the photographed object part of the respective effective frames.
