A fastener installation tool (2) for installing fasteners of the type in which a part (8) of the fastener is broken off during the installation process, which fastener installation tool (2) is provided with collection means (4) for collecting broken-off fastener parts (8) during operation of the tool, the collection means (4) being removably connected to the tool (2); which tool is provided with a shutter (10) and resilient urging means (12), wherein when the collection means (4) is connected to the tool, the shutter (10) is maintained in an open position, to allow the passage of broken-off fastener parts (8) from the tool into the collection means, via a through bore provided in the tool, and wherein, when the collection means (4) is disconnected from the tool, on operation of the tool, the resilient urging means (12) exerts a pressure on the shutter (10) thus urging the shutter (10) into a closed position wherein a contact surface (32) of the shutter obstructs the through bore thus causing broken-off fastener parts (8) to remain within the tool (2) and apply a pressure to the contact surface (32), and wherein when the pressure applied by broken-off fastener parts (8) to the shutter contact surface (32) exceeds the pressure exerted by the resilient urging means (12), the shutter (10) is caused to open sufficiently to allow the ejection of a broken-off fastener part (8).
