PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide lamp control system and control method for preventing useless initial setting in an actuator for controlling an irradiating direction of a lamp from being performed. SOLUTION: This lamp control system is provided with a target irradiating direction setting means (ECU) 1 for setting a target irradiating direction of the lamp LMP according to a traveling state of a vehicle and the actuator (SACT) 2 for driving and controlling the irradiating direction of the lamp LMP based on the target irradiating direction by making the initially set irradiating direction as a reference. The actuator is provided with an initial setting means 213 for driving and controlling the irradiating direction of the lamp LMP to a reference position and an initial setting storage means 214 for storing a state in which the initial setting is executed. The ECU 1 is provided with an initial setting confirmation means 16 for confirming that the initial setting in the actuator has been executed based on storage content in the initial setting storage means of the actuator, and an initial setting command means 14 for making the initial setting means of the actuator execute the initial setting when the initial setting can't be confirmed.
