<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a substance derived from Grifola frondosa, having a low molecular weight compared with a known sugar-protein complex and different structure, and exhibiting high immunostimulatory activity and antitumor activity. <P>SOLUTION: The low-molecular substance derived from Grifola frondosa is produced by: (1) a step of extracting the mycelium or fruit body of Grifola frondosa with hot water; (2) a step of adding an alcohol to the resultant extracted water-soluble fraction to a final volume concentration of 10-80%, allowing to stand at 1-40°C and removing the substance floating on or in the liquid or attached to the wall of the vessel and the precipitated sediment; (3) a step of removing the alcohol from the alcohol-containing water-soluble fraction obtained by the former step and recovering the adsorbed fraction from the obtained water-soluble fraction by anion exchange chromatography; and (4) a step of collecting a fraction having a molecular weight of ≤5,000 from the adsorbed fraction with a molecular sieve. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
