<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telescopic shaft constructed to efficiently urge wedged portions 41, 41 formed on part of a cushioning material 35 in wedged spaces 40, 40 existing between the outer peripheral face of an inner shaft 33 and the inner peripheral face of an outer shaft 34 in the directions of reducing the circumferential widths of the wedged spaces 40, 40. <P>SOLUTION: Both circumferential side faces 38, 38 of protruded strips 36, 36 formed on the outer peripheral face of the inner shaft 33 are formed in parallel to each other so that the direction of the center line of each of the protruded strips 36, 36 corresponds to the radial direction of each of the shafts 33, 34. Between each of the side faces 38, 38 and each of circumferential side faces 39, 39 of recessed grooves 37, 37 formed in the inner peripheral face of the outer shaft 34, the wedged spaces 40, 40 are formed. The wedged portions 41, 41 arranged in the wedged spaces 40, 40 are urged outward in the radial direction.
