<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method of automatically verifying a brake device of a vehicle by applying a load on a drivetrain while monitoring a drivetrain component. <P>SOLUTION: A method of testing a braking device 31 in a drivetrain 10 of the vehicle V which includes at least one tractive element 23 coupled to a traction motor 22 is provided. The method includes: (a) applying the braking device 31 to a tractive element 23 of the vehicle V; (b) using an electronic controller 26, causing the traction motor 22 to apply a predetermined force to the tractive element 23; and (c) using the controller 26, monitoring the tractive element 23 for movement while the force is being applied.
