PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problems: water of high measured oxidation-reduction potential shows water quality having strong oxidizing power, and the water having strong oxidizing power accelerates corrosion of a water supply pipe, a hot water supply pipe, and the like, causes a serious problem of extraction efficiency in the field of food processing, and is inferior in detergency. SOLUTION: The invention includes an apparatus and a method for reducing the oxidation-reduction potential of water having the above problems. An apparatus filled with a burned product of a solid body coated with a mixture of titanium dioxide and platinum to reduce the oxidation-reduction potential of water improves the water having strong oxidizing power to water excellent in corrosion measures, high extraction efficiency, and detergency, which are problems in various fields.
