PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a colorimetric protein assay which is rapid, highly sensitive, with less interference from detergents, reducing agents and other common reagents, as compared with commercial methods, and having an expanded linear working range and showing minimum inter-protein variations, and to provide a composition and a kit for colorimetric protein analysis. SOLUTION: A method is provided for protein determination utilizing a pyrocatechol violet-metal complex, and the composition and kit are provided for use in the protein determination analysis.
