The invention relates to electrical engineering and can be used, in particular, for the electric drives of dental equipment mechanisms. Said invention makes it possible to increase the operational stability and reliability of an AC converter-fed motor and to reduce the torque pulsations thereof. The AC converter-fed motor, comprising an electromechanical converter with a three-section winding, a permanent-magnet inductor, an inverter, a control unit and three comparators, is additionally provided with an electric motor starting unit. The control unit is in the form of a decoder based on six optron emitters with optical ports which are photo-coupled to the corresponding optron receivers of the inverter. The outputs of the comparators are connected to the control unit inputs. The power input of the inverter is connected to a power supply unit and to the input of the electric motor starting unit. The first output of the starting unit is connected to the third input of the second comparator and the second output thereof is connected to the third input of the third comparator. The second inputs of all the comparators are connected therebetween.
