PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cause an imaging device to exert a high foreign matter removing performance by using a method wherein a foreign matter removing member is moved in contact with the surface of an optical member, and to facilitate the replacement of the foreign matter removing member. SOLUTION: The imaging device includes: an imaging element 101 for photoelectric conversion of a subject image; a low-pass filter (LPF) 104 disposed in front of the imaging element 101; a shutter unit 20 disposed in front of the LPF 104; a lens mount 2 to which a lens unit is removably fixed; and a foreign matter removing mechanism which is provided between the LPF 104 and the shutter unit 20 and moves the foreign matter removing member 120 in contact with the surface of the LPF 104. On the side closer to the lens mount 2 than to the foreign matter removing member 120, there is only an opening having a wider width than the length L of the foreign matter removing member 120, which can replace the foreign matter removing member 120 through a mount opening formed in the lens mount 2, with the lens unit being removed.
