Provided is an engine, particularly a gas engine, which can be applied not only to a fuel injection valve of a relatively medium or small size but also to a fuel injection valve of a large size and which is enabled, by lowering the temperature near a nozzle seat, to prevent deposition and separation of carbides, thereby to perform the normal fuel injection control of a fuel injection system. A fuel injection valve device comprises a nozzle equipped at its leading end with an injection port for injecting a fuel and a needle valve fitted reciprocally slidably in the inner circumference, and a support body supporting the nozzle and having a cooling member housed therein for cooling the essential portion of the nozzle. The fuel injection valve device is characterized in that the distance (A) between a seat portion of the nozzle and the needle valve for controlling the ON/OFF of the fuel injection and the lowermost face of the nozzle inserting chamber of the support body is made smaller than the distance (B) between the lower end of the fitted portion of the nozzle fitted in the nozzle housing hole formed in the support body and the lowermost face, thereby to suppress the heat input to the seat portion.
