<p>A planar bioreactor in which light induced bioreactions of 5 biomass fluids containing algal suspensions of suitable algae can be conducted to produce oil products suitable for use as alternative to petroleum products, has an inlet for introducing gases and biofluids into the reactor having one or more inter-connected planar bed reactors 10 having a depth very much less than the surface area of the reactor beds and outlet for discharging the biomass containing algae having intracellular oil products in which the management and components of the bioreactor facilitate more efficient operation of the bioreactor to 15 improve the yield of oil product.
