PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an ion permeable diaphragm which is more improved in a gas separation performance to be used for an alkali water electrolytic apparatus. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the ion permeable diaphragm 1 to be used for the alkali water electrolysis is carried out by dissolving an organic binder material such as polysulfone in an organic solvent, dispersing hydrophilic inorganic material into the organic solvent to prepare a suspension, dipping an organic fiber cloth into the suspension and pressing the organic fiber cloth under the temperature condition between the glass transition point or above of the organic binder material and the melting point or below thereof.
