The invention relates to a method and a device for producing tube-type bodies. An injection-molded preform produced from a thermoplastic material and having two opposite mouth sections is biaxial orientation-molded in a blow mold to give a primary body. Molding is carried out by stretching and by adding a pressurized blowing gas. Stretching may be carried out using a stretching rod that is introduced into the interior of the preform and pushes against a closed portion of one of the mouth sections. The primary body is removed from the blow mold as an intermediate product and cut through to give two tubular containers. In a final step, the edges of the cut are pressed and welded together. The tubular container can optionally be closed prior to or after filling.
