PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic flaw detector that is constituted compactly and allows stable travel or scan. SOLUTION: This ultrasonic flaw detector comprises a ring R detachably attached onto the outer peripheral surface of piping P, an ultrasonic flaw detection head H capable of scanning on the outer peripheral surface of the piping P, a body M that has the ultrasonic flaw detection head H and can turn on the peripheral surface of the piping P via a ring R, a guide mechanism G that is interposed between the body M and the ring R and attaches the body M to the ring R turnably, a driving mechanism D that is interposed between the body M and the ring R and drives the body M turnably, and a sliding mechanism C that is interposed between the body M and the ring R and controls the attitude of the body M by sliding or slipping with the ring R during turn of the body M. The driving mechanism D is arranged on one side and the sliding mechanism C is arranged on the other side with the guide mechanism G as the center along the axial direction of the piping P.
