Provided is a performance optimization system enabling identification of when the influence on the performance is great despite a small number of cache misses. The performance optimization system comprises a required period counting means for measuring the length of the required period associated with an access to an object being observed, a required period table holding means for holding a required period table which stores the measured value of the required period and which is composed of a plurality of table entries for storing the measured values of the required periods in the respective classification areas defined by dividing a memory area, a table entry selecting means for determining in which table entry of the table entries of the classification areas constituting the required period table the measured value of the required period is to be stored on the basis of the accesses to the object being observed, and a cache miss observing means for detecting occurrence of a cache miss caused by an access to the object being observed.
