The cylinder has a valve (11) formed as a manifold valve and arranged between a pressurizing medium source (12) e.g. fluid source, and a control valve (19) that is formed as a manifold valve. The valve (11) controls connection to the source and discharge of remaining quantity during initiation of a power stroke from a piston rod sided cylinder chamber (14), during a return stroke, the power stroke and an opening stroke (Y) of a piston (3). The valves are arranged inside a working cylinder (1) together with channels and/or lines (7-10), in a structurally unified manner.
