PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molding support device which can distinguish blow holes and shrinkage cavities by single photography. SOLUTION: The molding support device 2 comprises: the main memory 24 which memorizes the three-dimensional data of continuous cross-sectional images obtained by the photography of a casting 12 formed in such a manner that a molten metal fed into a mold 51 is solidified are memorized; a cavity extraction part 41 where a plurality of cavities in the casting 12 are extracted from the three-dimensional data on the main memory 24; and a cavity distinguishing part 42 where a plurality of the extracted cavities are distinguished into blow holes and shrinkage cavities based on the respective shapes.
