PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clean an intermediate transfer body by means of conductive brushes, to prevent the intermediate transfer body from being poorly cleaned, and also to reduce a time and labor to replace the conductive brushes, regarding an image forming apparatus for a copier, wherein a toner image formed on an image carrier such as a photoreceptor is transferred to the intermediate transfer body, and the toner image transferred to the intermediate transfer body is transferred to a recording sheet, and then, the image is formed. SOLUTION: The first conductive brush 81 and the second conductive brush 82 are arranged along the intermediate transfer belt 11, the logarithm value logR1 of the raw-fiber resistance value R1[Ω/cm] of the first conductive brush 81 is made equal to or larger than the logarithm value logR2 of the raw-fiber resistance value R2[Ω/cm] of the second conductive brush 82, and the logarithm value logR1 is set in the range of 10.5 to 12.0, and the logarithm value logR2 is set in the range of 10.5 to 11.4.
