The device has a switching unit for connecting a third signal path with an interface. The switching unit connects third signal path (2c) with the interface in such a manner that connection is supervised by a tested isolation of the third signal path. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a device for receiving and transmitting signals for error-proof automation components; and (2) a switching arrangement for monitoring switching status of a fourth switch.
