PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which, even when a transfer paper is thick and pre-rotating time for warming a pressure roller is long, temperature detected by a thermistor does not diverge to a high temperature side relative to target temperature, consequently fixability for the leading end of a first transfer paper is satisfied. SOLUTION: When switching from rise-up control means to PI control, a power control means stores, as an initial offset value, an amount of power supplied at the end of rise-up control. Immediately before the leading end of passed transfer paper rushes into a fixing nip, the power control means alters it to an amount of power supplied using the stored initial offset value, thereby satisfying the fixability of the leading end of the first transfer paper.
