PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper carrying mechanism capable of miniaturizing a device while precisely carrying a paper while restraining deflection of a frame when carrying the paper, and an image forming device with it. SOLUTION: This paper carrying mechanism 6 comprises a document feed roller 34, a frame 5, a reinforcing member 7, a switch lever 20 as drive transmission means, and a rotating mechanism 50. The frame 5 supports the document feed roller 34, and forms a part of a first paper carrying path, and a groove 5A is formed along a direction Y. The drive transmission means is movably inserted in the groove 5a in the direction Y, so as to switch the driving of the document feed roller 34. The reinforcing member 7 has restraining guides 7E, 7E for restraining an upward and downward movement of the drive transmission means. The reinforcing member 7 is arranged to cover an entire width of the first carrying path in the direction Y, and is fixed to the frame 5 near both ends of the first carrying path in the direction Y.
