<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift register circuit and a liquid crystal display unit using the shift register circuit which protects constituent transistors from an overvoltage and prevents breakdown of the transistors due to the overvoltage. <P>SOLUTION: The shift register circuit includes a drive control transistor T4 for outputting a control signal corresponding to a gate signal output from a pre-stage shift register circuit, a voltage control transistor T8 for controlling the voltage of the control signal under a predetermined voltage, a first output transistor T1 for outputting a first clock signal as the gate signal depending on the control signal controlled under the predetermined voltage, and a second transistor T3 for receiving a second clock signal and deactivating a gate line corresponding to the second clock signal.
