PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for producing glass gob, capable of forming nearly spherical glass gob. SOLUTION: The method for producing the glass gob involves falling of molten glass liquid droplet from a flow channel to form the glass gob and comprises a step of contacting a contact member with the liquid droplet before it is detached from the flow channel and, at the same time, applying force to the liquid droplet in the direction other than vertically upward. The apparatus for producing the glass gob comprises the flow channel from which the molten glass flows out and the contact member that contacts the molten glass before it is detached from the flow channel.
