A key vault (1) comprises: a vault body (10) with a rear face (11), a side face (12), and a front face (13) parallel to the rear face (11); a key accommodation drawer (70) accommodated in the vault body, displaceable parallel to the rear face of the vault body, which can slide into and out of the vault body; a key lock mechanism (50) accommodated in the vault body, with a key opening (51) for axially inserting a vault key from the front face (13) in a direction perpendicular to the rear face (11). Rotation of the vault key displaces the key accommodation drawer into or out of the vault body. A protective cap (20) hingedly coupled to the vault body by a hinge mechanism (80) positioned internally in the vault body covers the key opening in a closed position and releases the key opening in an opened position. A latch mechanism (30) keeps the protective cap in its closed position. A cap sensor (60) detects opening of the protective cap. |
