<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing device configured to compress image data capable of performing the faster printing of images of higher quality while saving a memory size. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing device capable of compressing image data with a plurality of compression levels has a means for sequentially performing a compression process for each of a plurality of areas into which the image data is divided with a latest compression level set at the moment. The means includes: a former stage compression means which, in the case that a size of the compressed image data is not smaller than a determined value in the compression process for each of the divided areas, repetitively updates the latest compression level to a compression level one-rank higher so as to compress the image data with the updated latest compression level until the size of the compressed image data becomes smaller than the determined value; a storing means which stores the latest compression level and the compression level used for compressing each of the divided areas; and a latter stage compression means which recompresses each of the divided areas of the latest compression level at the moment different from the compression level stored in the storing means with the latest compression level, after the former stage compression means finishes compressing all of the areas. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
