PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing polymer dope comprising a rigid heterocyclic polymer. SOLUTION: In the method, the molded article of the polymer dope (I) comprising the specific rigid heterocyclic polymer and a polyphosphoric acid having 1.0-10 dl/g is obtained, and the obtained molded article is subjected to heating treatment at 50°C-200°C for 1-50 hours, thereby, the polymer dope (II) comprising the rigid heterocyclic polymer and the polyphosphoric acid and having intrinsic viscosity of 10-40 dl/g.
