PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable to cap a vessel surely without damage of a cap and the vessel. SOLUTION: In a method of capping the vessel while detecting torque working on a capping head, when the cap is attached to the vessel, the cap can be positioned to the vessel in a predetermined direction by an engagement protrusion mounted on the cap and a getting-over protrusion and a stopper protrusion both mounted on the vessel. The capping head rotates the cap by a predetermined command torque To. When the torque working on the capping head reduces by a predetermined torque from the maximum torque Tdb, the detecting means determines that the engagement protrusion got over the getting-over protrusion (Tdc) and then detects the minimum torque Tdd. When the torque increases by the predetermined torque from the minimum torque, the engagement protrusion comes into contact with the stopper protrusion and the detecting means determines the end of capping (Tde).
