METHOD FOR PREDICTION AND TEST OF HEART FAILURE, AND REAGENT AND KIT FOR USE IN THE TEST

Acute myocardial infarction or other type of heart failure can be tested by measuring the level or activity of phosphoglucomutase 2e, 2f and/or 3 (which is an enzyme involved in glucose metabolism in a heart tissue) or a fragment thereof in a body fluid (e.g., human serum or plasma). The test can be carried out rapidly and in a simple manner, can predict the development of the disease before onset of the disease or can determine the occurrence of the disease immediately after the onset of the disease or the prognosis of the disease. The test can distinguish between acute myocardial infarction and other type of heart failure. Also disclosed are a test reagent and a test kit.
